About the Project
IMT Analytics, headquartered in Switzerland, is a global leader in precision test equipment for respiratory care. Since 1999, their high-accuracy gas flow analyzers have been trusted for testing and calibrating mechanical ventilators, anesthesia devices, and critical medical equipment in clinical and industrial settings worldwide. Their product line—including the CITREX H4 and H5 ventilator testers, FlowMeter F1 and F2 portable analyzers, and FlowAnalyser PRO—represents the industry standard for biomedical engineers who demand laboratory-grade precision in field conditions. As IMT Analytics introduced a new generation of Bluetooth-enabled analyzers transmitting expanded measurement datasets, they needed a development partner to take ownership of their mobile app and scale it to support the evolving product ecosystem. The FlowMeter App needed to reliably interpret complex Bluetooth specifications where each transmitted byte represented distinct flow, pressure, volume, temperature, and oxygen measurements. The challenge extended beyond feature development: every enhancement required validation with physical devices in controlled environments, and all new capabilities had to integrate seamlessly with existing functionality—real-time charting, data snapshots, and PDF/CSV export—without disrupting the medical-grade reliability users depended on. We architected the solution using a cross-platform mobile framework with Bluetooth protocol handling at its core. The critical technical challenge was reverse-engineering IMT's proprietary Bluetooth specifications to build dynamic parsing logic that could decode raw byte streams into structured, meaningful data across seven different device models. We implemented a lightweight local database for offline-first functionality, enabling biomedical engineers to access historical measurements and user preferences without network connectivity. The real-time visualization engine processes incoming data streams and renders high-resolution charts that update continuously as measurements flow from connected devices. For compliance and reporting workflows, we built a comprehensive snapshot system allowing technicians to freeze data states at specific intervals, reload them for inspection, and export professionally formatted reports to PDF and CSV. Working in epic-based iterations with rapid feedback loops, we delivered the initial feature set in under two weeks and established a sustainable development cadence aligned with IMT's hardware roadmap. The FlowMeter App now supports seven device models across IMT's product line and maintains a perfect 5.0 rating on app stores. The platform has become an essential tool for biomedical engineers worldwide, transforming how they interact with precision test equipment by bringing laboratory-grade measurements directly to mobile devices—enabling faster calibration workflows, deeper data insights, and more confident decision-making in critical healthcare environments.
